We are excited to announce Kayla Scheer as NMOLE's Teacher of the Year!!! Kayla comes to us from V. Sue Cleveland High School in Rio Rancho. A big congratulations to her!! She will be our candidate for the SWCOLT 2024 Teacher of the Year.

Kayla was also our Best of New Mexico presentation this year! She will be  sharing her presentation on Gamifying Teaching, Learning, and Speaking at the SWCOLT conference in Arizona this coming January. Check out SWCOLT at this link here. Student registration available!! 

AND we are excited to have Yu Zhen as our new secretary at NMOLE! We are so happy to have her.

NMOLÉ invites you to nominate a colleague or yourself for the Teacher of the Year (ToY) Award. Please download the NMOLÉ 2024-25 Teacher of the Year Candidates’ Manual. NMOLÉ will provide coaching for the ToY candidate and prepare the candidate for SWCOLT. Please direct your questions to the ToY committee chair Ms. Ginger Rinaldi at rinaldi@aps.edu.

Each year NMOLÉ recognizes outstanding teaching, service, and dedication to the language education profession. Awards include:

  • NMOLÉ Teacher of the Year, recognizing a world language teacher who has demonstrated great potentials to represent New Mexican language educators at regional (SWCOLT) and national (ACTFL) levels.

  • Lifetime Achievement Award, honoring an individual for lengthy and dedicated service to the language education profession;

  • Excellence in Teaching Award, recognizing a world language teacher who has demonstrated exceptional ability and outstanding performance in classroom instruction;

  • Young Educator Award, recognizing a world language teacher in their first five years of service who shows uncommon potential for the development and implementation of ideas in the classroom;

  • Outstanding Administrator Award, honoring an administrator for contributing in a significant way to the promotion of the teaching and learning of world languages.
